Matthews Rea designs show homes and interiors for property developers, from a single marketing suite through to the full specification of a development. The studio is based in Cobham, Surrey, and we work across London, the home counties and internationally.
The Interior Is Doing the Selling
A show home has a job most interiors do not. It has to help somebody imagine living there, and it has to do it within minutes of them walking through the door. That means designing for the buyer the development is aimed at rather than for our own taste, and being honest about which rooms carry the decision.
It also means the interior has to photograph well. A great deal of a development is sold from a brochure, a website or a hoarding long before anyone visits, so we specify with the camera in mind as well as the eye.
Working to a Developer’s Programme
Developer work runs to its own rhythm, and we plan around it rather than treating it as a complication.
Launch dates do not move. Several units often need to feel related without being identical. The specification has to be deliverable at scale and repeatable, not a one-off. And lead times on joinery and furniture have to be worked backwards from handover rather than discovered late.
We are comfortable joining a scheme where the architect, contractor and project manager are already appointed, and working as part of that team.

What We Provide
Interior architecture and design, technical drawings, bespoke joinery, custom furniture design, and the full specification and procurement of furniture, fixtures and equipment. Where a development needs several units treated as a family rather than as copies, we set the scheme up that way from the start.
